Most job searches fail at the front.
Not from too few applications — from evenings spent on roles that were never going to work. Lumen reads the posting against your real CV and tells you, before you start, whether it is worth the evening.
Lumen is invite-only. Requests are read by a person.
Staff Platform Engineer
Northwind Robotics — Remote, US only
Recommendation: skip
- Asks for 5 years of Rust. Your CV shows one.
- US citizenship required. You hold an H-1B.
- Everything else is a strong match, which is why it scored this high.
A real report shape. Lumen scores against your CV, not against the posting’s own enthusiasm.
Four passes, cheapest first
A language model is the slowest and most expensive way to read a job posting, so Lumen only reaches for one after arithmetic has thrown out everything it can.
- 1
Find
Pulls openings from Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever and Workday boards you follow, plus Adzuna, Remotive, RemoteOK and Himalayas.
- 2
Filter
Drops staffing agencies, roles that will not sponsor when you need it, onsite-only postings when you need remote, and anything stale.
- 3
Score
Keyword overlap and return-on-effort, computed arithmetically. No model involved, so the number is reproducible.
- 4
Read
Only then does a model read the posting against your CV and write the report: what matches, what does not, and whether to bother.
Three things it refuses to do
It will not apply for you.
Lumen drafts the resume, the cover letter and the interview kit. You open the posting and press Submit yourself. There is no browser automation in this product, and adding it is not on the roadmap.
It will not invent anything.
No employers, titles, dates, degrees, metrics or tools that are not already in your CV. It will rephrase a true thing to match a posting's vocabulary. It will not manufacture a false one.
It will tell you not to apply.
Below 4.0 out of 5, the report recommends against applying and says why. You can override it. Most tools in this category are paid to say yes.
What you get once you are in
- Separate workspaces
- Keep an AI-product persona and a platform-engineering persona apart, each with its own CV, targeting and pipeline.
- Pipeline you can see
- A board from evaluated through applied, responded, interview and offer, with follow-up timing worked out for you.
- Honest gap coaching
- What is missing for a specific role, and whether you could close it truthfully before the posting expires.
- Story bank
- Your reusable evidence, kept once and pulled into interview kits instead of rewritten from memory each time.
- Contact discovery
- Find who owns the role and draft an introduction. Lumen never sends it.
- Clean exports
- Printable, ATS-readable CV and artifact output. No template chrome that a parser will choke on.
